When I used to think of soft play I would visualise a loud, garish, potentially bacteria filled and disregulatory hell with way too many people in at once. Somewhere that not only our Autistic son would become overwhelmed, but his nerotypical brother and ourselves too. Our dream has always been to create something different and we believe we have. Welcome to Nikki’s Little Play Cafe – a calmer, muted, Sensory sympathetic space with the highest hygiene standards.

We not only serve delicious food and beverages but actively participate in positive and developmental play with your child. We’re here for you, offering a listening ear and a supportive shoulder, understanding the challenges of parenthood and catering
We aspire to be a cornerstone in the community, providing advice and support sessions with experts, and operating sustainably and charitably to make a positive impact on the lives around us.
Our commitment extends to the environment. Coffee grounds are donated as fertiliser to local nursing homes, and boxes are repurposed and redistributed to support local small businesses.
Explore our Book Nook and pre-loved clothes rail, available for all customers. Take what you need, and if you can, leave a donation – every penny goes to local children’s charities.
For moments of overwhelm, step into our purpose-built sensory room. Equipped with mirrors, projections, ambient sound, a bubble tube, and fibre optics, it provides a comforting retreat.
We foster a supportive and non-judgmental environment where every family feels welcome and understood.
In the lobby of our toilets, find a shelving unit stocked with essentials like nappies, wipes, sanitary products, and more. We’ve got your back if you ever run out of supplies.
Meet our furry friend Rosie the Basset Hound. Our therapy dog is ready to bring joy and comfort to children and families and is available on request as well as during regular sessions. We are very proud to be the first play cafe with a resident therapy dog. *Rosie doesn’t work Fridays
Experience the warmth of kindness, be that given or received. Acts of kindness can be purchased by customers so those in need can be helped without the focus of attention that sometimes comes with charity. Redeeming their play session and hot drink without anyone around even knowing.
